Privacy Policy

Take a Break keeps your app selections, schedules, Time Bank ledger, and mission recordings on your device. The app has no accounts or ads. Limited diagnostics help fix faults. Starting with version 2.0.3, usage statistics are optional and off by default.

Who we are

Take a Break is published by Koda Labs. This policy covers the native iOS app and explains the information processed by Apple and our service providers.

Information kept on your device

• Your selected apps are stored as opaque Apple Screen Time tokens. We do not upload those selections.
• Your schedules, alarm settings, Time Bank ledger, daily logs, and streak history stay in local app storage.
• Photos, videos, mission answers, QR payloads, and NFC tokens are not uploaded to our analytics or diagnostics services.
• Motion and step counts used for Walk-to-Mint are processed on-device.

Deleting the app removes its local storage. Device backups are governed by your Apple backup settings.

Purchases handled by Apple

Subscriptions, lifetime access, introductory eligibility, and restores use Apple StoreKit 2 directly. Apple processes payment, and the app checks signed transaction state on your device. We do not receive payment-card details or run a purchase backend. The native app does not use RevenueCat.

When optional usage sharing is enabled in version 2.0.3 or later, plan selection and purchase/restore event types may be sent to PostHog. These events do not contain your Apple Account, receipt, payment details, or transaction identifier. See Apple's Privacy Policy for Apple's handling of transactions.

Crash and error diagnostics

Sentry processes limited crash and selected error reports for app reliability. Reports may include app and operating-system versions, device technical context, stack traces, error details, and limited alarm/mission lifecycle markers. This diagnostic collection is separate from the optional usage toggle.

The app clears user and request context before sending reports and disables default personal-information capture, screenshots, view hierarchies, session replay, and performance tracing. It does not attach app selections, schedules, recordings, QR payloads, or mission answers. Service providers necessarily process network connection information to receive requests. Optional usage statistics — version 2.0.3 and later

Settings → Privacy → Share usage statistics is off by default. PostHog is not initialized until you consent. If enabled, the app sends named feature events such as onboarding steps, quiz mode, plan selection, purchase or restore completion, and alarm or break completion. Events include timestamps, app/SDK version information, and a randomly generated installation identifier so activity from the same installation can be measured over time. This is pseudonymous, not a guarantee of anonymity.

PostHog processes these events in its US cloud project. The app filters automatic device context from event properties and requests that IP geolocation enrichment be disabled. It does not enable surveys, automatic screen or interaction recording, session replay, or advertising tracking. No account identity, selected apps, schedules, photos, videos, step counts, or mission answers are included.

Turning sharing off stops future collection. Events already queued or sent while consent was enabled may still be processed; opting out does not erase previously collected information. Version 2.0.2 does not include this product-usage analytics feature. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.

Retention and requests

On-device records remain until removed in the app or the app is deleted. Diagnostic records follow Sentry's service retention settings. The PostHog project currently has no enforced automatic expiry for usage events. We do not sell this information or use it for targeted advertising. Contact us below with access or deletion requests; because the app has no account, we may need information to locate a particular record and may be unable to associate an installation with you.

Device permissions we request

• Screen Time / Family Controls — to shield your chosen apps on-device during your break and night windows. Handled entirely by iOS; selections stay on-device.
• Notifications — for local wake alarms and reminders. These are local notifications and can be silenced by your device settings, Focus, or you.
• Camera / Microphone — optional, only if you pick a photo or push-up wake mission. Recordings are proof for yourself and are stored on-device; we do not upload or analyse them.
• Motion & Fitness — optional, only if you use "walk to mint" to earn Time Bank minutes; the step count is read on-device and never stored off-device.

Children

The app does not ask for a name, email address, or date of birth. Optional usage sharing remains off unless enabled. Parents or guardians can contact us about data concerns.

Your choices

• Turn off Share usage statistics in Settings to stop future analytics collection.
• Delete the app to remove its local data.
• Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
• Use "Restore Purchases" in the app to re-link an existing purchase.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version at this URL.
