Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 July 2026
By downloading or using Take a Break — App Lock ("the app"), you agree to these terms. The app is published by Koda Labs ("we", "us").
What the app is (and isn't)
Take a Break is a self-control tool. It helps you take a scheduled break from distracting apps by shielding them with Apple's Screen Time. The promise is friction, not a cage: you can always turn a shield off in iOS Settings. The app does not, and cannot, permanently prevent you from using your phone, and it is not a parental-control or enforcement product.
Wake alarms are local notifications. Like any notification, they can be silenced by your device settings, Focus, Do Not Disturb, or you. We do not guarantee that an alarm will wake you.
Any photo or push-up "proof" is proof for yourself — you decide whether you met your goal. We do not judge, verify, or store it off your device.
Subscriptions, introductory offer, and purchases
Take a Break requires an active monthly subscription, or a lifetime purchase, after onboarding. A 1 month free introductory offer is available on the monthly subscription only when Apple shows that your Apple ID is eligible. The lifetime purchase is charged immediately. The exact localized price, currency, duration, and offer available to you are shown by Apple in the app before you confirm a purchase.
- Except for an eligible monthly introductory offer, payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- If you begin an eligible monthly introductory offer, the monthly subscription starts and your Apple ID is charged when the 1 month free offer ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- An auto-renewing subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- The lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-recurring access purchase associated with your Apple ID.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store Terms of Sale; we cannot issue App Store refunds directly.
Apple standard licence agreement (EULA)
Your licence to use the app is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. Where these terms and the Apple EULA conflict, the terms most protective of you apply.
Acceptable use
Use the app for your own personal screen-time discipline. Do not attempt to reverse engineer, resell, or misuse the app in violation of the Apple EULA or applicable law.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its reminders or shields will produce any particular outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Koda Labs is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other mandatory consumer protections.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
Changes
We may update these terms; the revised version will be posted at this URL with a new date.
